The long week has drawn to an end. Casey did an incredible job taking care of the new students, running a million errands, getting all of their paperwork squared away, housing in order, and classes rolling. I also made it through my first three days of teaching and dispatching... and Smokey has been joining us at work. We left her in the tipi one day and she easily found her way out, ate most of our trash, roamed the woods and was waiting for us inside when we returned. :)
Amidst all of our successes we've most likely been suffering from a bit of residual CO poisoning... feeling pretty spaced out, dizzy, and well, just really buzzed. We've both had a hard time using our brains here of late. It might be due to our propane appliances... although the tent has plenty of ventilation. Just to be safe, we moved the propane outside and left all of the flaps open the past two nights. We enjoyed some deep restorative sleep under a foot of blankets with the cool crisp fresh air rolling in!
[Note: two months later a huge natural gas leak was discovered at the office, where we'd been spending 60+hours/week for the past two months. This is likely the source of our dizziness since removing the propane did not eliminate our symptoms!]
