The winds of change are blowing... and we'll be moving soon. Through some fortunate coincidences I came in touch with a small community called Earthsong on the Middle Oconee River just west of Athens. Earthsong is comprised of a small group of amazing people, living in beautiful nature-inspired homes on 98 acres of forest, most of which is in a nature preserve. The community also serves as a spiritual retreat center and educational site.
Not only is this amazing place 25 miles closer to Casey's new job, but it also has a washing machine, a library with Internet, shared bathhouse, outdoor kitchen, a large garden... and apparently incredible fishing. Earthsong also already has a tipi that is rented out to community guests :) Our new neighbors have welcomed us with open arms and promised that I'll be more than safe while Casey's gone on his trips for work.
While here it looks like I'll be apprenticing with one of our new neighbors, a permaculture designer who's planning some big projects to help the community become more self-sustaining this year. This means I probably won't be traveling to Asheville or spending two months in Tennessee to participate in permaculture programs. Hooray :)
Basically, we're totally amazed that such an unbelievable opportunity has come our way... at just the right time.
