Logistics...

With $2,000 already sunk into the project and everyone thinking we were mad... well, we started to sweat a little. What if we don't find a place to live?? Why didn't we wait to buy the tipi after we had it all figured out?? The negative thought processes started to roll and our beautiful dream was starting to feel more like a burden. Only three weeks remained until the canvas would arrive and we hadn't made a bit of progress. Still something deep down told us that we were on the right track and everything would work itself out...

After a week in Griffin (where Casey was training for his job) we made our way up to Athens. Fortunately, the fears breathing down our necks began to let up and a number of opportunities started to present themselves. Cheap land was available for lease on Craigslist, several people had family property we could stay on outside of town, an apparently awesome farm near the airport was looking for a new tenant, and a friend of ours with plenty of extra land happened to be the only person in town who didn't think we were crazy :) While whittling down the list of options, I approached a friend of ours with nearly 200 acres of beautiful land with mountain bike trails that was only about 6 miles from Athens. To our complete surprise... not only did he not think we were crazy... but he'd actually already been mulling over the idea of putting a tipi on the property! (We pinched ourselves and breathed relief!!) And so within a week Hawkes Creek Farm had become our new home. :)
