The months have just flown by... we've been putting in insane hours at the flight school... and all has paid off for the students who are doing incredibly well. English class ended last week and I'm now working just 4 days/week. Today was my first day off... and I spent it all alone at the tipi. Smokey and I laid under the covers till the sun was well up... watching the sunlight sparkle through the snow crusted on the canvas. Upon waking... we walked up to the barn to fetch water and begin a busy day of catching up on cleaning and exercise. We ran for about an hour, exploring the bramble-filled swamp and coming up on two stray dogs... maybe the wild ones we were hearing about? I also found an arrow left over from a mountainbike race and hung it up to guide passersby away from our driveway. After our run, I tried out the Walmart sun shower, removing the "lovable loo" from the bathroom tent. It was awesome. Water wasn't too cold, the nozzle was nice, and the tent kept me from freezing. I then began the terrible task of moving all of the furniture from the tipi, shaking out the rugs, sweeping out the million mouse turds, and scrubbing the floor clean. By the time Casey got back... it was growing dark and cold and my body was aching. We pushed on up to the barn to get a bit more water, washed some dishes, and I cooked a delicious Tai Peanut meal. This made up for the bowl of cereal with frozen almond milk that I'd barely been able to get down in the morning.
This evening the stove burned super hot and clean, turning the tipi into a sauna. With the peppermint scented, freshly cleaned floor, cozy clean rugs, and xmas lights lit around the tipi with candles... the place finally feels like home again.
Long day... long day again tomorrow :)
